Monaco will be without Chu-Young Park for a month, but it is injury rather than international duty which has sidelined the South Korean star.
Guy Lacombe had expected his top scorer to miss the restart of the Ligue 1 season due to his participation in the Asian Cup, which starts in Qatar on 7 January.
However, Park sustained a knee injury in his club¥“s 2-1 win over Sochaux just before Christmas, and the 25-year-old has now been withdrawn from the South Korean squad for the continental competition.
While surgery is not yet required, Park will have to rest for four weeks meaning he will not return to action for Monaco until their Week 21 meeting with Marseille.
